What kind of encounter is it when the egg ‘hits’ the earth? Is it an egg that strikes a stone or is it the law of gravity?
‘How can you drop a raw egg from 10 meters without breaking it?’
On the afternoon of 23rd November, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department of the east campus held a unique activity -- the creative competition of ‘Eggs Hitting the Earth’.
Specifically, ‘Eggs Hitting the Earth’ is a classic PBL teaching case, which originated in the UK in the 1980s and is a popular youth science and technology activity around the world. The competition required students to drop an ordinary raw egg from the fourth floor of the teaching building onto a concrete floor on the first floor. The closer the egg was to the center of the circle, the higher the score. Thus, the students in Grade 8 and Grade 9 thought positively before the competition, constantly improving their equipment, giving full play to their imagination and creating a variety of landing devices. Moreover, the landing devices were varied, the competition was wonderful, and the students' creativity was infinite, which showcased the students' intelligence and wisdom, and displayed the wisdom and creativity of the young people.
To put it in a nutshell, this event fully reflects the knowledge and interest of science and technology. Evidently, there were cheers at the scene of the competition. Additionally, the students' ingenious ideas have stood the test of practice and science makes our creative imaginations come true. Therefore, let's be scientific creatives and create more surprises!
